As a design specialist, you will –
Play an active role in our growth roadmap by carrying out design & development, support, activities on our customer’s packet core platforms
Help develop and test new services for our customers fixed and mobile network. Contribute to our roadmap of 5G activities – helping transition our services to an NFV/Cloud environment.
You must have –
- Packet Core Design experience on GSM and LTE networks with a detailed understanding of product roadmaps. Nokia suite is desirable but not mandatory
- Proven track record in striving for continuous improvement and driving efficiencies.
- Excellent leadership and influencing skills to drive Core Design Team deliverables and collaboration with other Networks and IT departments
- Design and deployment experience of signalling elements AAA, DRA, MME, PCRF and user plane SAE-GWs through the full delivery lifecycle from initial design to operational handover.
- Excellent knowledge of UMTS/EPC/IMS architecture, interfaces and procedures, with an understanding of key LTE-associated technologies, and associated functionalities from IMS, and WiFi.
- Implementation knowledge of 3GPP, IETF and GSMA standards and architectures.
- Good understanding of Operational and Business Support Systems.
- Hands on practical skills in troubleshooting and fault resolution from end to end network including intermediate elements
- Project lifecycle understanding, with self-time management ability to work out deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to engage different areas of the business at varying levels of technical capability.
Responsibilities:
- Ideal candidate will be the Design authority for packet core, and accountable to drive design discussions and decisions with stakeholders.
- Accountable for packet core solution designs – High Level Designs to Low Level Designs, to Databuild and to successful handover of solution to Core Operations for implementation.
- Work across 2G/3G/4G Voice and Data Core, whether the designs be done internally, or externally.
- Work with local and outsourced vendor designs, and be responsible for design deliveries for LTE EPC and the core interface to other network elements & solutions for example:
- CS/PS Core networks
- VAS/Service Layer
- MVNO design, and support
- Testbed connectivity formulations and support
- End-of-life Management
- Collaborate with teams to ensure that Project and Programme Plans are realistic and achievable through high standards network designs and architectures
- Collaborate with the test functions to ensure the team are directly involved in testing, or indirectly observing the tests being performed per project
- Collaborate with Core Operations to ensure design process outputs are translated into accurate node configuration and documentation of Method of Procedure for integration and deployments.
- Involved for evaluation, selection, and modification of EPC related deliverables, schedules, specifications, estimates, and impacts to overall network and integration activities.
- Ensure performance and capacity of the packet core systems are aligned to the roadmaps, and maintain the related documents
